The Serbian singer is clearly a giant talent, comparable in his own way to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan or Mari Bonie Persen, someone capable of bringing their music to life with such vivid spirituality that it vaults with ease over the most impenetrable cultural barriers. His voice combines the anguish of rai with the soulfulness of fado - a sort of Balkan gypsy jazz. Andy Gill, The Independent, 15. 2. 2002, UK |

(...) Njegov glas kombinuje patos istočnjačke muzike i duhovnost fadoa (...) njegova muzika je vrsta balkanskog ciganskog džeza. Andy Gill, The Independent, 15. 2. 2002, UK |

Listening to Saban’s music is an experience that doesn’t offer any comfort or an answer to “the mystery Saban” on the contrary (...) Where does he come from? Where his subtle, highly artistic songs came from, those Romany poems filed with refined images and symbols, like they were from Chagall’s paintings? Where does this singing style come from, his technique, colours and shades of his voice? Questions, one after another, in the endless chain of unanswerable questions. Djordje Matić, Vreme, 10. 02. 2005. |

Šaban Bajramović, ciganska legenda ? Ne, to nije preterivanje, to je apsolutna istina. Zlatko Gall, Slobodna Dalmacija, Decembar 2001, Hrvatska |

Šaban Bajramović, a gipsy legend ? No, that is not an exaggeration, it is an absolute fact . Zlatko Gall, Slobodna Dalmacija, December 2001, Croatia |

Mike Domakin, 15. 02. 2002 If any man has the right to sing the Balkan blues it is surely Saban. The scars of such a life are visible not only on his body but are also reflected in a voice which burns with sorrow, tragedy and longing, especially on autobiographical songs such as Pelno Me Sam (I am Imprisoned). Mike Domakin, 15. 02. 2002.. |

Mladen Hlubna, Oslobodjenje, Sarajevo, BIH, 6. 12. 2001.
It is difficult to stay objective while listening to this masterpiece. The saying goes that no one should go down on one’s knees and bow one’s head before a living human being, but in this case an exception should be made. Mladen Hlubna, Oslobodjenje, Sarajevo, Bosnia, 6. 12. 2001.
The next 66 minutes were one of the rarest moments in my life. I was crying because of the sheer beauty of this music. Together with Mostar Sevdah Reunion, the great gipsy singer created an exceptional album, probably the best ever produced in this Balkan area. Miljenko Jergovic, Jutarnji list, 10. 11. 2001, Hrvatska |

Narednih 66 minuta bili su retki trenuci u mom životu.
But the musician - the singer - hadn’t changed. During the few minutes we were allowed to spend with him while here-hearsed for his performance, I heard improvisations that I’d never believed possible. He was using only half the power of his voice but it was a voice that had lost absolutely nothing of its power, opulence and utter enchantment in the last twenty years. It was absolutely pure, absolutely genuine. The man singing before me was a musical genius. Dragi Šestić, musical aranger and producer, Snailrecords. Netherlands
A on se nije služio ni polovinom svoga glasa. Dragi Šestić, aranžer i producent, Snailrecords. Holandija. |
